Faz has been providing counselling and psychotherapy for children, adolescents and families since 2012. She has vast experience of working with families across various cultures, faiths and age groups.
Previously, Faz has led therapy teams in primary and secondary schools, where she worked with children, teachers and parents to look after the emotional and developmental needs of pupils.
Faz believes in being flexible, adaptive and curious in her work, always pacing the child and recognizing that each child, adolescent and family is different in their needs. She works closely with parents and care-givers to build a supportive and safer environment in the best interest of the child.
How she can help
Faz can help with a wide range of issues such as:
- Self-esteem issues and lack of confidence
- Problems at school such as facing bullying or acting like a bully
- Experience of abuse and / or witnessing domestic violenc
- Coping with change, such as moving countries or schools
- Various forms of trauma
- Psychosomatic disorders
- Developmental delays
What to expect
In a typical session for children, problems are explored in the context of play, role playing, metaphors and stories. Play is a natural form of communication for children. Play can also be a form of healing, and Faz encourages children to ‘play out’ their anxieties, fears, frustrations or anger. This process enables them to move on from the problem.
Psychotherapy with adolescents is a place where young people can focus on their hopes and dreams. They can explore any fears or problems in a non-judgmental environment. Often, adolescents might feel they cannot be their ‘true self’ for fear of letting down their parents, getting into trouble or being ridiculed. In this situation, psychotherapy can be really helpful.
