Kate is a Speech and Language Therapist with more than 10 years of experience working in a variety of settings including community clinics, mainstream and special schools. She specialises in supporting children and young adults with speech and language difficulties, social communication difficulties, a range of autism spectrum disorders, and learning difficulties.

Working jointly with parents, teachers and caregivers, Kate aims to help the children she works with to enjoy a fulfilling family, education and social life.

What Kate Can Help With

Kate provides assessments and therapy, either individually or in groups, for children and young people with a wide range of difficulties including:

  • Speech delay/disorder
  • Language delay/disorder
  • Social and communication difficulties
  • Autism spectrum disorders
  • Moderate, complex or severe learning difficulties

Kate also provides training for parents, carers and schools staff, and accredited Makaton signing courses.

Certified Training

Kate’s training includes:

  • Intensive Interaction – building relationships and interactions with people who have significant learning difficulties
  • Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) – a communication system that uses picture symbols to encourage development of interactive language and communication
  • Speech and language interventions for secondary-aged students
  • Makaton Regional Tutor – using signs to help support spoken language
  • Team Teach – a framework that provides positive behavioural strategies designed to reduce anxiety, risk and restraint
  • Lis’n Tell Inclusive Interactive Storytelling
  • Attention Autism — a technique enabling students with autism, to engage with others and develop their communication and attention skills in an accessible and fun way.
