Katie Trusty – Drama Therapist

A registered Drama Therapist, Katie has extensive experience working with children with a wide variety of needs.   She has facilitated individual, family and group dramatherapy sessions in mainstream and special education settings, mental health units, charity services, residential communities and in a private capacity.

Katie is passionate about drama therapy and how it can support children by drawing on their innate capacity for creative expression through mediums such as art, story-making and play.  In her work she has encountered, over and over, the ways in which the language of image and story can reach children and enable them to communicate on a deeper and more satisfying level. This allows children to digest past events, to make sense of their feelings or to manage their worries in a process that feels safe and which they direct for themselves.

As well as practicing drama therapy, Katie also provides supervision to staff within the education system and attends regular CPD training in order to update her practice.
