Marianne is the owner of Children’s Therapies and a qualified Speech and Language Therapist. Marianne has worked with both pre-school and school-aged children across clinics, nurseries, primary and special schools.
She is experienced in providing assessment and therapy for a large range of language, speech sound, fluency and social communication difficulties. Marianne delivers 1:1 therapy for children, as well as indirect work with parents and teaching staff.
She is also experienced at delivering group therapy for speech, language and social communication skills.
Marianne is a PROMPT trained therapist and uses this technique with verbal dyspraxia and other articulation difficulties.
Marianne’s certified training includes Hanen ‘It Takes Two to Talk’ (see www.hanen.org), The Lidcombe Programme of Early Stuttering Intervention and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). Marianne is a licensed Elklan trainer for the Open College Network level 2/3 qualification in speech and language knowledge and skills for those working with preschool children, children with autism and school aged children.
Marianne is a certified Lee Silverman Voice Therapist- a highly researched therapy that is soon to be used with children who have Down’s syndrome and Cerebral Palsy to improve speech strength and clarity. Other paediatric training includes Intensive Interaction therapy for non verbal children, Makaton signing, Nuffield dyspraxia therapy and working with challenging behaviour.
A further area of special interest is within social communication and language disorders for adults with brain injury. Marianne’s work also includes the rehabilitation of swallowing and taste, dyspraxia and dysarthria.
