As a skilled Clinical Psychologist with over 20+ years experience of working in India and the UK-NHS, specifically with children and their families in various settings, Preethy brings with her a multitude of skills in assessing supporting and looking after children with mental health and learning disabilities from birth to adolescence. Preethy is a multi-lingual Clinical Psychologist and is fluent in English, Italian, Hindi and Konkani (native to India).

Preethy completed her education at the University of Bombay and is one of the first members of the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists. She has worked in India for UNICEF under a ground breaking initiative called the Early Intervention Welfare Project aimed at providing early stage intervention and support in the slums of Bombay. This has been taken up in many countries since its inception in the mid 1980s.

Preethy utilises an integrative approach and available facilities including the home setting as places where children and young people will be encouraged to explore and use different materials and objects for them to express, recreate, play and talk about their difficulties.

Preethy is passionate about working with young people in order to maximise their potential/ supporting them to thrive within their environment. She works within a constructional problem solving; systemic/strength-based framework, drawing upon the client’s skills and strengths to help them to manage challenges. Preethy believes in the importance of building a trusting therapeutic relationship and the benefit of working collaboratively with the child and their wider network including family members and teachers.

Professional Qualifications and Registration:

  • Ba (Hons.) Psychology and Ma (Hons.) Psychology from the University of Bombay.

  • Doctorate member of the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists.

  • Registered Clinical Psychologist HCPC.
